Hanson Precast prestressed bridge planks are made to RTA NSW specifications, but may be used in a variety of applications. They may have straight or skewed ends as required.

There is six standard sizes each 600 mm wide by 240, 300, 380, 455, 535, and 600 mm deep.

They have shear keys at the top edge and are used in conjunction with an insitu concrete topping acting compositely with the bridge planks.

Their advantages include:

  • These are standard items and can be manufactured very quickly.
  • They are precast and stored off-site, ready for delivery and erection as required.
  • Simple and quick erection with no propping or formwork congesting the site.
  • Larger sizes voided to reduce dead load and crane handling capacity, while retaining structural adequacy for standard highway loadings.

Designed for use in short-span road bridges from 8 to 18 m.For secondary bridges and other applications, such as jetties, where there are lower loading requirements, planks may be used for longer spans.
